Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of knowtepad.com and the community Knowtepads hosted on it (the “Service”), operated by Solve For Why Pte. Ltd. (“Knowtepad”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by Solve For Why Pte. Ltd. (UEN 202407358M), a company registered in Singapore, with its registered address at 160 Robinson Road, #14-04, Singapore 068914. You can reach us at hello@solveforwhy.org.
2. The Service
Knowtepad lets any community — a club, a school group, a building, an office, a congregation, a neighbourhood — run its own notice board at its own link. The board carries short “knowtes” — announcements, events, asks, offers, and deals — plus a shelf of files the Host pins (rules, maps, schedules). Every Knowtepad is members-only: it opens with a 4-digit code the Host shares with the community. The core Service is provided free of charge and is offered on an early, evolving basis. We may add, change, suspend, or withdraw features at any time.
Each Knowtepad is created and run by a Host — the member who set it up (or whom they appoint). Hosts choose the Knowtepad's 4-digit code, manage its member list, post its announcements and shelf files, and may remove content from their Knowtepad. Hosts must run their Knowtepads consistently with these Terms; they act for their community, not on our behalf.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
- Only Hosts hold accounts, via passwordless email sign-in. If you are a Host, you are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, and for activity that happens under your account.
- Members do not create accounts: they enter with the Knowtepad's 4-digit code and act under a name they give, which their device remembers. Use your real name (or the name your community knows you by) — signing as someone else is impersonation.
- You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the knowtes you post (“Your Content”). By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute Your Content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
You are solely responsible for Your Content. You confirm that you have the right to post it, that it is accurate and lawful, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. Remember that everything on a Knowtepad — knowtes, responses, and the names beside them — is readable by everyone in the community — don't include sensitive personal information.
5. Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- Post spam, scams, chain messages, or misleading content.
- Post anything illegal, fraudulent, hateful, harassing, or discriminatory.
- Solicit payments dishonestly, request deposits or “verification fees”, or attempt to defraud other users.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Collect or harvest other users' data, or disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service.
6. Dealings between users
Knowtepad is a noticeboard, not a party to any arrangement between users. We do not verify the identity of users, vet items or services, or guarantee that any knowte, response, or person is genuine, safe, or suitable. Any transaction, meeting, exchange, or agreement you make with another user is entirely between you and them, at your own risk.
Use common sense: meet in a public place, check items before you pay, and never send money or deposits before you have what you agreed on.
Some knowtes are sponsored deals — placements by local businesses, always labelled “sponsored” and carried on a Knowtepad only with its host's approval. Knowtepad is not the seller: the business sets and honours the deal's terms, and any redemption is solely between you and that business.
7. Moderation
Moderation happens at two levels. Hosts keep their own Knowtepads tidy: they may remove knowtes from, and members of, their Knowtepad at their discretion. We may additionally remove any content, and suspend or terminate any account or Knowtepad, at our discretion — for example, where content breaches these Terms, or is flagged by the community. We aim to be fair and to explain our decisions where we reasonably can.
8. Intellectual property
The Knowtepad name, logo, design, and the software behind the Service are owned by Solve For Why Pte. Ltd. and protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without our prior written permission.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content posted by users is accurate or reliable.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Solve For Why Pte. Ltd. and its officers and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service or any dealings with other users. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Singapore law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Solve For Why Pte. Ltd. from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — will continue to apply.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore for any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service.
